Samsung Galaxy S has been a revalation in 2010 and has brought Android to mainstream. One good thing about Android phones is that there is a community which creates some amazing custom ROMs which come with enhanced performances, lagfixes and better themes and of course native android experience.

Darky’s edition is one of the popular version of custom ROM. Let’s see how to install the ROM on your Galaxy S. Just to make you get interested about this ROM, following are the screenshots.

Disclaimer: Flashing your phone is a risky business and we own no reponsibility for bricks. However, with Galaxy S there is hardly any way you could brick it. But still it’s your responsibility.

Let’s see how to flash your phone with Darky’s ROM with Gingerbread theme. Ensure that you have your data cable ready.

STEP 1: Backup all your data including music, pictures, sms and contacts (though I won’t make a backup of contact as I have all my contacts synced with my Gmail account)

STEP 2: If you are already using a custom ROM with lagfix disable it. If you have voodoo then goto the “Voodoo” folder on your internal sdcard. If the folder isn’t there then just make it. Inside that folder make another folder called “disable lagfix”.

STEP 3: Download Darkys ROM and ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery to your computer. (Links at the end of the post).

STEP 4: Ensure that the download mode on your phone is working. The 3 Button Combo (VOLUME DOWN + HOME + POWER).

STEP 5: Download Odin. (Download link at the end of the post)

STEP 6: Copy ClockWorkMod Recovery on your INTERNAL SD-Card

STEP 7: Download JM8 Firmware [Safe Release by Richthofen] firmware to your computer.

STEP 8: Download the CSC file.

STEP 9: Download 512 PIT file.

10. Close Kies and disconnect your phone from your computer.

For rest of the tutorial follow the instructions in the video:

Enjoy the new blazing fast ROM and show off your phone with Gingerbread theme to your friends.
